I am a writer for a lot of reasons, but the urge to share stories about queer and disabled experiences ranks pretty high on the list. That is, to say, representation.
There has been some talk about moving away from “representation” as a selling point for literature, and how representation can’t fix everything, and how what may be good representation for one person may be annoying or frustrating for another. And all of that is true. But I still keep an eye out for representation I’m hungry for, and field questions from folks looking for certain things.
So to that end, I have created the Queer & Disability Representation Catalog for my work.
DISCLAIMERS.
Please note that information for unedited and unreleased works is subject to change and may lack detail. // This catalog has a narrow range of focus; that is, would I be comfortable seeing this book on a library display about the representation in question? If the answer is no, it is not included, with some exceptions for plot-relevancy. // Contains spoilers.
